Now let's get started.

[00:01:25] All right, my beautiful people. Well, welcome to Transport Tuesday here on the Season of Self Love Podcast. I'm your host, Nyomi Banks, and today we begin a powerful new journey for our March series of Letting Go, Releasing Limited Beliefs. And as always, I am coming to you with authenticity, with vulnerability, and with my real-time journey.

[00:01:49] And speaking of real-time journeys, just these past few weeks have been challenging for me. My vertigo has flared up again. Something that I haven't experienced this intensely since October of 2024. And for those of you who have been following me for a while, you might remember back that was doing our Active Balancing Life series when I was first diagnosed.

[00:02:20] So I want to paint a picture for you all on what these days have been like for me. So out of 24 hours a day, I might get a good three hours. Three hours. And the other 21 hours, continue with spinning, headaches, dizziness, fatigue, and shooting pains.

[00:02:48] I mean, it's the kind of experience that forces you to just stop everything and listen. And that's exactly what I've been doing, listening deeply. I've been asking myself, what's the message here? What am I holding on to that's creating this imbalance?

[00:03:11] Because I believe that our bodies speak to us in profound ways when we're not listening to the whispers of our spirit. But before we dive deeper into this exploration, I want to take a quick break, all right? It's your girl, you got us. I'm your man, you're on the Season of Self-Love Podcast. And we'll be right back. Washington Wellness Institute focuses on healing always. For me, if I look good, then I feel good.

[00:03:40] If I feel good, then I share the good. If I share the good, then I celebrate the good. If I celebrate the good, then I live the good. So I can be paid to be my greatest. But I have to learn the good to be the good. So, what does it take to be the greatest? It's as simple as a free 15-minute consultation. Be kind to yourself and heal always. Hey, it's your girl, you got us, Naomi Banks.

[00:04:07] And make sure you tune in every Thursday night to Ask Naomi Bridging the Gap Podcast. Where we talk about everything from love, sex, relationship, cultural differences, and so much more. We're bridging the gap between them all. And we even talk about spiritual uplifting. You need to stop by me and Dr. Tom Mike Mike as well as the BTG group. We have some amazing guests that come to you. You never know. Just make sure you tune in Thursday night, 6 p.m. Pacific Standard Time.

[00:04:34] Go to Ask Naomi.com and tell them Naomi's future. All right, my beautiful people. So before we dive deeper into this conversation, let's crown ourselves with a meditation that will help us tune into what our bodies might be trying to tell us. And what we might need to let go of, all right?

[00:05:03] So if you would take a deep breath through your nose and release it slowly through your mouth. I want you to feel your body settling into this moment. Now I want you to place one hand on your heart, connecting to your most innermost strength.

[00:05:26] And I want you to place your other hand on your forehead where you have so many of our limited beliefs reside. Now as you breathe, I want you to imagine a gentle healing light beginning at your heart and moving upward to your head. Now in this light, it carries a simple truth. You don't have to hold on to what's causing your imbalance.

[00:05:57] Now with each breath, I want you to feel yourself becoming lighter. As if the weight of what you've been carrying is slowly dissolving. Now I want you to bring in your mind one limited belief that might be keeping you unbalanced. Perhaps it is, I must do everything perfectly. Or I don't have time to rest.

[00:06:24] Or my worth is tied to my productivity. Or whatever it is, see it clearly. Now as you exhale, I want you to imagine releasing this belief and watching it float away. It no longer needs to be defined you or your limit you. Now I want you to take one final deep breath in.

[00:06:55] Drawing in clarity. And peace. And as you release it, I want you to affirm silently. I release what no longer serves me. I am finding my balance again. When you are ready, gently open your eyes. I write my beautiful people. If you are new here to this season of self-love podcast, it's something that we do every day, Monday through Friday.

[00:07:23] Just to help ground us before we get into the topic at hand. I write my beautiful people. So as I have shared with you during our journey of self-love that I've always believed in being transparent about my own path. And today, again, I want to share something that I've been experiencing. And that's my vertigo has flared up on me again. For the past few weeks, I've been dealing with this rehabilitating condition.

[00:07:51] As I mentioned before, out of 24 hours a day, I might have a good three hours. And the rest is continuous spinning, headaches, dizziness, fatigue, and shooting pains. I have not felt this way since October of last year.

[00:08:13] And again, that was during my birthday month in the Act of Balancing Life series that we had did in that month. But this weekend, as I was dealing with this vertigo, I had a profound realization. I asked myself, what am I holding on to that's making me unbalanced? What is making me unbalanced? What am I doing wrong?

[00:08:42] And the answer came clearly. I wasn't truly taking care of my full self. So let's go back to yesterday on Mindset Monday with Dr. Will. And we talked about how limiting beliefs often stems from our early life experience.

[00:09:02] And he described how we internalize messages, often unconsciously, that then become the framework through which we view ourselves and our capabilities. You know, one powerful limited belief many of us carry is that our value lies in our productivity.

[00:09:26] That we push ourselves and ignore our body signals and keep going until our body literally forces us to stop. That's what my vertigo is doing to me right now. It's forcing me to listen.

[00:09:45] You see, I find it so interesting that a few weeks ago, I interviewed Lori Parente for our Wisdom Wednesday episode. She's a beautiful healer who spoke about reclaiming our light. And now looking back, I believe that that interview was a sign that I completely ignored.

[00:10:10] I truly believe that I ignored the whole sense of it for me. So let me say this, because every guest that comes here, there is a message for me. But I don't think that I saw it in a complete variation for me, if that makes sense.

[00:10:31] So it was something that Lori shared, and I don't want to give it all to you, but I need to say this, because it makes so much sense to me now. Lori has shared something powerful that our body speaks to us when we don't listen to the whispers. They start to shout. And my body isn't whispering anymore. It's literally spinning me in circles until I pay attention.

[00:11:01] So what limited belief is causing is this imbalance. For me, I'm realizing that the belief that I must keep going, that I must keep producing, that I must keep showing up full for everyone else, but it's often at the expense of my own well-being.

[00:11:28] It's always at the expense of my own well-being. You know, it's funny. I remember a couple of Fridays ago when myself and Dr. Will was on, we was having our meeting and we was getting ready to record for our Mindset Mondays. And I remember showing up, thinking that I'm ready to go.

[00:11:54] And I remember Dr. Will was like, no, no, we're not about to do this. And I'm laughing now because I believe that was another sign that I totally ignored. He was like, no, we come back on Sunday and do this on Sunday. He said, because now he said, because I would not be your still friend. We don't do it like this. He said, so I know you need rest, don't you? And I'm like, no, we can get through this. He's like, come on.

[00:12:24] All right. I see you on Sunday. And he let me go. And I remember taking part of that day and resting, but also resting the rest of the weekend until Sunday. And I came back, you know, as I thought I was fully recharged.

[00:12:47] And, but I kind of realized I was feeling a little illness and sick coming in, a little coldness coming. And it wasn't cold here in Vegas. It wasn't cold at all. It was a nice weather. So I didn't understand where I was getting the sniffles or anything from.

[00:13:11] So now that I'm truly sitting here recording this episode, I'm like, wow, you literally missed every, every sign that was given to you. And the crazy thing is that we just discussed this in January about the signs, about paying attention to the signs. And I just let it just float on by. Float, float. It was floating on. Just float on by me.

[00:13:41] And I just got truly have to laugh at myself right now. Like, oh, girl. But it was also something that Dr. Will has said yesterday when Dr. Will talked about acknowledging the type of person that we've become. And he said that the first step in breaking free from our limited beliefs is acknowledging the type of person that we've become, right? So here I am acknowledging that I've become someone who pushes past their limits.

[00:14:10] And someone who sometimes values productivity over well-being. And someone who forgets that rest is also sacred work. And I know this. And right now I'm telling myself it's more than just sitting at my altar for 30, 45 minutes to an hour in the morning when I wake up. It's more than just that. Yeah.

[00:14:40] I know you might not believe, but sometimes we can be overly spiritual. I know that sounds crazy. And I'm going to explain it on another episode. But when I'm more focused on being so spiritual and be spiritual connected sometimes or even living in my purpose, that I do totally forget about myself.

[00:15:07] I get so wrapped up in what I am doing and how I am doing it. That not purposely, but there is like a natural high of this spirituality, of living in your purpose and doing good for others. That just doing the work that I, and I can probably resonate with a whole lot of you that sometimes forget.

[00:15:32] You know, if I want to continue doing this work, if I want to continue to be at this pace, that I truly have to take care of myself first. And that means in every way possible. So let's now talk about some common, common, limited beliefs that might be keeping us all unbalanced.

[00:16:00] And then I want to share some practical tools for releasing them. All right. So the first belief is that I must do it all myself. I must do it all myself. I've been so guilty of this. It's because I am a type of person that's going to come in later on is that I can become a control freak that I want things done a certain way.

[00:16:30] Yeah. And with this is I must do it all myself. This this one shows up as an inability to ask for help or to delegate or to trust others with part of our vision.

[00:16:48] So when Lori, when she spoke, when I spoke to her, when heard I spoke, she mentioned something so very powerful that even when we're doing our healing work, that we're never doing it alone. That we have a team of guys and ancestors and loved ones of supporting us from beyond the veil. And seeing these things that I know. Because I am a stickler of being at my altar. I'm a stickler of honoring my ancestors.

[00:17:15] I'm a stickler for honoring, you know, the messages that I'm getting from spirit and from God. And so I know all of these things. And when I think about it, even when sending Lori to me and several other beautiful people that sent my way to give me these messages. Part of me was still unable to grab hold of that message and apply it to myself.

[00:17:45] Entirely. All right. And so the second limited belief is rest is lazy. Man, I have my hand raised up and I'm probably waving it side to side on this. Because how many of us have internalized this one? Rest is lazy. You know why? Because when you're laying down, when you're young, and I know for me, especially when I used to come home from basketball practice and track practice, I used to be tired as hell.

[00:18:15] And my mama used to say, you know, get up, you need to go in there and wash those dishes. And I'm like, damn, I just spent damn near eight hours in school and another three hours running or playing basketball. Like, I'm tired as hell. But she would say, no, you need to do something because you're lazy. And in my mind, if I'm not doing something, if I'm not doing something, then I'm being lazy. And I know there are so many people that can resonate with this. And we need to stop.

[00:18:44] And I'm telling myself right now, you need to stop that because you know you're tired. Sometimes you'd be up for 12, 13, 14 hours working and longer. But this is where we internalize from things that we are taught from either parents or teachers or loved ones or whatever. You know what I mean? You know, we see rest as something to be earned.

[00:19:15] Rather than a fundamental necessary. I'm going to share this with you. I was feeling so guilty when I was laying down and trying to rest. Like, I got to do. I got to do. I got to do. And I don't know if y'all remember. Well, it was just yesterday, if anybody had listened in.

[00:19:43] When Dr. Will asked me about what did I feel like I had started but hadn't finished or wasn't going to finish. Or, you know. And I was talking about the writing, the writing of book. That I have started many books. And that's because I wanted to honor every chapter or every story of my life. Because I feel that it's all been powerful for me through not only my transformation and my growth.

[00:20:14] But also honoring part of my foundation and where I come from. If that makes sense. So, when I feel like I'm resting. You know that saying is like I rest when I'm dead. I think we need to stop saying that. Like, really. Like, truly, seriously. And because I think we, again, we internalize that. And we feel like if we're not doing anything. If we're resting.

[00:20:44] Like, we're only supposed to have that 8 to 10 hours sleep. And during that time, that's it. And then every other time during that day, we need to be moving. But again, sometimes our body shut down. And I know we talked about this before. And as I'm sitting here talking to you all, I'm like, girl, are you really going down this path again? You know, we talk about the paradigm.

[00:21:15] And I felt it. It's like I felt it when my frequency was starting to drop. I have been on this high for so long. And I wanted to stay there. I want to say I have so many different projects. Oh, my God. They are so amazing. And it's like you have to be healthy.

[00:21:42] To be able to do all of those projects. To be able to share them with the world. But you got to be healthy to do them. You know, Dr. Will talked about slowing down. Being the first practical step to overcoming our limited beliefs. Right?

[00:22:08] And he said your urgency is not others' urgencies. Your urgency is not others' urgency. And that there are things that we can only see when we slow down. And the third belief is that my worth is tied to what I produce.

[00:22:38] And this is perhaps one of the most insightful. One of the most resonant of in our culture. The idea that our values as human beings is measured by our output or our achievements. Or our constant doing. And I'm about to even go a little step further than this. And it's about to be a little... Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and say it. When you think about how society is...

[00:23:07] And we're going to talk about race right now. When we talk about how society looks at us as black people. Yes, I'm going there. And they look at us and they say that we're lazy. And I think about all of my ancestors. And if you're a person of color, all of your ancestors.

[00:23:39] That have built this country, America. For free. With sweat and blood. But we are deemed as being lazy. I believe just that thought alone for me. It's like embedded in my mind. And I'm trying to let that go.

[00:24:11] Because when I sit and I think about every job that I had. Every career that I've been in. Is that I felt that I had to work. Four times. Even ten times harder than anybody. Whether you were a man or woman. Black or white. That I had to work. Ten times is harder. Than you. Than any of them. Does that make sense?

[00:24:41] And now as I'm speaking right now. It's like, yeah, that's it. I don't think I really set in it like that. I remember my freshman year of college. And I think I shared this story before. And I remember we were talking about minorities. And I remember I spoke about me being a double minority. Not only me being black. But also me being a woman. That I was a double minority. I remember having this argument with this young man. About that.

[00:25:10] And he said, no, you're not. You just, you know, no, I am. And then when we talk about the DEI situation that's going on now. You know, with that situation. And that's more geared towards women. People of color. Of other ethnicities. And LGBTQ community.

[00:25:40] And if you see, if you hear and you see what's going on now. Is that everything that is wrong with the world. That they claim that it's a part. Is because of DEI. I think DEI was created or put in force in 2022. There have been a lot of people that's been fired, released, let go. Because of their ethnicity.

[00:26:09] Because of their sexual preference. Because of their gender. And as I say here, that makes it where it's so hard. It makes it a challenge to let go of those of limited beliefs. When society continues to kind of pin it to your forehead. You know.

[00:26:39] You know, you got to laugh at this when you truly look at the world. Because it's not just America. This happens in every country. I remember when I went to Japan. And I remember I kind of stood out like a sort of, you know, very tall.

[00:27:07] I had my big afro. Perfect afro. You know, my makeup. My heels. You know, so I'm already 5'10". Put on some heels. I'm about 6'2". And I'm walking around. And I remember being in an elevator. And I remember this small Asian woman. She goes to bring her head to touch my afro. To see if it was real.

[00:27:37] And I remember even walking through the streets. And, you know, and people wanted to take pictures of me. Because I was a tall woman. With an afro. A tall black woman. With an afro. And so I say that because it's magical. Because I'm magical. That is what I say. That is the armor that I put on myself. And I'm being honest. This is the armor that I put on myself when I say, that's magical.

[00:28:07] Because I can walk around and people want to touch my hair. And people want to do this. And people want to do that. But then in another sense, it's very disrespectful. Because I know that we all have our own unique way. Our own unique style. Our own uniqueness of who we are. But when our difference or our uniqueness by the color of our skin.

[00:28:36] Or if we have a penis or not. That we are deemed different. Does that make sense? So when I talk about this third belief about my worth is tied in what I produce. This is why I work, work, work, work, work so hard.

[00:29:03] Again, just this past weekend, I was able to see a whole bunch of footage of my life. How do you see that? You know, everything from I did from singing in a singing group. From acting, you know, early on. To runway modeling. Photoshoots to all of those things. I was able to see all of that. Because we, you know, we filmed a lot.

[00:29:32] I filmed a lot of things. Even with myself and my girls. And when I sit and I look, I said, wow, I've done a lot of things. And again, when I think about it, I thought that me trying to or working so hard to prove my worth started at birth.

[00:30:02] No, this started way before I even got here. This goes through our bloodline, especially of people of color. That we've been told that we are not worthy. Ain't that something? So it's like, how can we release that?

[00:30:41] You know, the idea that our value as human beings is measured by our output. Or our achievements. Or our constant doing. But as Lori reminded me, she said, our light exists whether we're actively doing or simply just being. And again, I don't want to give y'all too much because tomorrow episode is such an amazing episode.

[00:31:10] And I had the privilege and I was blessed to be able to speak to her afterwards as well that she gave me some more insight as well. But as I am sitting here in this episode. Wow. Yeah. So this goes deep. This truly goes deep. And I'm not just talking about black people. I'm talking about all people of color. Truly.

[00:31:40] And then I want to get even, even. Okay. Now I'm not going down that. I'm not going down a rabbit hole. All right, y'all. So now here's, I'm going to give you three practical tools for releasing these limited beliefs. First is the body wisdom practice. So when you notice yourself pushing beyond your limits, I want you to place one hand on your heart and I want you to ask, what is my body trying to tell me right now?

[00:32:12] Then I want you to simply listen. Don't judge the answer. Just receive it with compassion. All right. Second, I want you to do the reframe matrix. And then we talked about this in January series. And I believe Dr. Will says something about his way, but this is, I want you to catch a limited belief. And I want you to ask yourself, what are the facts here?

[00:32:43] Not my interpretation, but what are the facts? And then what's my initial response? And what's the deeper message beneath this situation? And third, I'm going to give you a quick peek into tomorrow's episode.

[00:33:09] Lori beautiful practice of energetic protection is the third one. What she taught me to the simple technique. To raise my arms and say. I close our doorways and pathways. And I ground into my energy. I am in my energy alone. I want you to try it because it's remarkable.

[00:33:39] Affect them. And when I tell you when she told me this. I'm not going to tell y'all. I just got to tune in tomorrow to why she told me this. I'm sorry about my beautiful people. All right. My beautiful people. See, the truth is that these limited beliefs aren't just thoughts. They manifest in our physical body.

[00:34:05] My vertical isn't just a random condition. It is a profound message about me being in balance. About holding on to what I need to let go. What I need to let it go. Holding on to what I need to let go. So as we close today's Transform Tuesday,

[00:34:34] I want to invite you to join me on this journey of balance. Of listening deeply to what our bodies are telling us. End up releasing the limited beliefs that keep us spinning. My prayer for this series is that I, that we will find the deeper message in our imbalances. Whether those show up as vertigo for me. Or as anxiety for you.

[00:35:03] Or chronic fatigue or relationship patterns that keep repeating themselves. These are all symbols of something that is deeper, that's ready to be released. Now I'm committed to honoring my body's wisdom during this month. And even as I continue to serve you through this platform, and I invite you to make a similar commitment to recognize when you're holding on to limited beliefs

[00:35:32] that are creating imbalance in your life. Here's your Transform Tuesday assignment. All right. I want you to do a body wisdom journal. Each day this week, I want you to take five minutes to check in with your body and write down what it's telling you without judgment or the need to fix anything. Just listen and record. Two,

[00:36:01] limited belief inventory. Write down three limited beliefs that you suspect might be creating imbalance in your life. And for each one, I want you to ask, where did I learn this? Is it still serving me? And what will happen if I let go? And then the daily release ritual.

[00:36:32] So before bed each night, I want you to place one hand on your heart and one on your forehead. Name one thing that you're releasing and one thing you're inviting in. For example, I release the belief that my worth is tied to my productivity. I invite in the truth that I am worthy

[00:37:01] simply because I exist. Also remember, our year of rebirth workbook has specific exercises about identifying limited beliefs. And I want you to use it as a companion on this journey. All right, my beautiful people. All right. So sometimes this universe has to literally make our world spin around to get our intention because it definitely did it to me.

[00:37:30] But that spinning contains wisdom. And if we are willing to listen, as Dr. Willis taught us yesterday and as Lauren, Lori will reveal to us in our conversation tomorrow, the pathway to freedom begins with acknowledging where we are, honoring our journey and having the courage to let go of what's keeping us unbalanced. So until tomorrow is Winston Wednesday, I want you to remember

[00:37:58] to be gentle with yourself. Honor your body's wisdom and know that letting go doesn't mean giving up. It means making space for something better. It's your girl, the goddess Tommy Banks here on the Season of Self-Love. And I truly thank you for listening and have an amazing day.
