Now let's get started.
[00:01:02] All right, my beautiful people. Well, welcome to Transfer Tuesday here on The Season of Self-Love Podcast, where we embrace healing, growth, and transformation one episode at a time. I am your host, Nyomi Banks, and as always, I am honored to hold space with you on this journey of self-discovery and empowerment. Well, this month we've been exploring the powerful practice of mindfulness and presence.
[00:01:25] And yesterday on Mindset Monday, Dr. Will introduced us to the healing power of breath work and how connecting with our breath can create profound shifts in our mental and physical well-being. And tomorrow on Wisdom Wednesday, we'll be diving into mindfulness from a perspective of securing our legacy through estate planning with Oscar Basquias.
[00:01:46] But today, on Transfer Tuesday, we are focusing on something essential, putting mindfulness into action in our daily lives. Because mindfulness isn't just about meditation or breathing exercise. It's about bringing that same quality of intention and presence to everything that we do. But before we get deep into this conversation, let's take a quick break, all right? It's your girl, you got us, Nyomi Banks here on the Season of Self-Love Podcast, and we'll be right back.

[00:02:53] Washington Wellness Institute focuses on healing always. For me, if I look good, then I feel good. If I feel good, then I share the good. If I share the good, then I celebrate the good. If I celebrate the good, then I live the good. So I can be paid to be my greatest. But I have to learn the good to be the good. So, what does it take to be the greatest? It's as simple as a free 15-minute consultation. Be kind to yourself and heal always.
[00:03:30] Before we dive in, let's center ourselves with a brief moment of mindfulness, all right? So you know how we do it here. If you could just close your eyes and get into a comfortable, comfortable position right now. All right. So now I want you to inhale deeply through your nose for a count of four. One, two, three, four. Hold your breath for four. One, two, three, four.
[00:03:57] Now exhale slowly through your mouth for six. One, six. Let's do that one more time. Inhale for four. Four, three, two, one. Hold one, two, three, four. Exhale for six.
[00:04:24] One, two, three, four, five, six. Now as you continue to breathe naturally, I want you to visualize your day ahead. I want you to see yourself moving through each moment with awareness and intention. See yourself pausing before reacting.
[00:04:48] See yourself fully present in each conversation, in each task, in each breath. Now with each inhale, I want you to welcome in clarity, focus, and peace. And with each exhale, I want you to release distraction, hurry, and judgment. And now repeat silently to yourself.
[00:05:17] I am present in this moment. And I embrace my life with awareness and love. I want you to take one more final deep breath in and exhale completely. And when you are ready, I want you to gently open your eyes. And I want you to carry this intention with you as we dive into today's discussion. All right? All right, my beautiful people.
[00:05:44] If you are new here to the Season of Self Love podcast, this is something that we do every day Monday through Friday here. It's just to help ground us before we get into this topic. So today we're talking about mindfulness in action. So yesterday, Dr. Will shared on how our breath can be a powerful tool for healing and presence. But how do we take that awareness off the meditation cushion, right? And into our everyday lives.
[00:06:09] You see, mindfulness is, mindfulness in action means bringing that same quality of intention to everything we do. Whether we're washing dishes or having a conversation or working on a project or even planning our future. So when we're mindful in our daily activities, we experience three powerful transformation.
[00:06:37] First, we reclaim our time. So have you ever driven somewhere and realized you don't remember the journey? Or finished a meal without tasting it? See, when we're on that autopilot, life passes us by. And what mindfulness does, mindfulness brings us back to the richness of each moment. And second, second, when we respond rather than react.
[00:07:07] When we're mindful, we create space between simultaneous and response. Instead of being hijacked by our emotions, we can pause. We can breathe. And we can choose how we want to show up. And third. Third, we connect more deeply with ourselves, with others, and with life itself.
[00:07:36] You see, presence is the foundation of our authentic connection. So let me share a personal practice that transformed my life, has started to. I call it the sacred pause. It's when you take in a brief moments throughout the day to come back to my breath and my body.
[00:07:57] I might set a general reminder on my phone or connect it to something that I do frequently, like checking messages or before entering a new space. In these pauses, I take three conscious breaths. Feel my feet on the ground and check in with myself. One of my questions is, how am I feeling at this moment and at this time? What's needed in this moment?
[00:08:29] And it's all, it just takes 10 to 15 seconds. But it's like hitting a reset button for my nervous system and my awareness. Another powerful practice is bringing mindfulness to one routine activity each day. It could be your morning coffee or tea, your shower, your commute, or even brushing your teeth.
[00:08:55] So instead of letting your mind wander during these activities, bring your full attention to the sensory experience. And what I mean by that, the taste, the smells, the sounds, and the sensation. You see, this trains your brain to be present. And it builds your mindfulness muscles.
[00:09:22] And finally, one of my favorite mindfulness practices is what I call a heart full listening. So often in conversations, we're planning what to say next instead of truly hearing the other person. You see, when we listen with our full presence, with our ears, our eyes, and our heart, we create a space where people feel truly seen and heard.
[00:09:52] And this transforms our relationship from the inside out. All right, remember beautiful people, let's take a quick break, all right? It's your Grady Goddess, Nami Banks here on the Season of Self-Love Podcast. And we'll be right. Washington Wellness Institute focuses on healing always. For me, if I look good, then I feel good. If I feel good, then I share the good.
[00:10:21] If I share the good, then I celebrate the good. If I celebrate the good, then I live the good. So I can be paid to be my greatest. But I have to learn the good to be the good. So, what does it take to be the greatest? It's as simple as a free 15-minute consultation. Be kind to yourself and heal always. All right, well, welcome back, my beautiful people.
[00:10:48] Well, before the break, we were talking about how to bring mindfulness into our everyday lives through practice like the sacred pause or the mindful routines in my favorite, the heartful listening. But let's address something important. Mindfulness isn't just about feeling good in the moment. It's also about making conscious choices for our future. And this is where tomorrow's conversation with Oscar Vasquez about estate planning connects with today's theme of mindfulness in action.
[00:11:17] You see, when we take time to plan for our future and our legacy, we're practicing a deep form of mindfulness. And we're saying, I am present to the reality of my life in its entirety. And I matter. My loved ones matter. And I want to be intentional about securing our future.
[00:11:40] You see, this kind of planning might not be comfortable, but it's access to face realities that we sometimes avoid. But that's precisely why it's an act of self-love and mindfulness. It's about bringing awareness to all aspects of our lives, even the ones that feel challenging. So here's my challenge for you this week, my beautiful people. I want you to choose one daily activity, something you normally do on autopilot.
[00:12:09] And I want you to commit to bringing your full present to it, your full presence to it. I want you to notice the sensations, the emotions, and the thoughts that arise. So whenever your mind wanders, I want you to gently bring it back to the present moment. And second, I want you to take one mindful action that serves your future self.
[00:12:38] Maybe it's having a conversation that you've been avoiding, researching something that's important for your well-being, or taking a small step toward a goal that matters to you. I want you to remember that mindfulness isn't just about blissing out your breath. It's about bringing awareness, intention, and love to every dimension of your life.
