I am whole breathing one more time, excel and when you are ready, please open your eyes. All right, my beautiful people, If you are new here to the season and Steph Love Podcast, it's something that we do every day Monday through Friday, just to help a ground just before we get into the topic in hand. All right, Miss Tasha, welcome, get back to the show. Welcome with us. So let's begin with this. Let's begin with unpacking the term feminine wellness. What does that mean to you? And why is it so vital in today's world? Feminine wellness is really just a woman just embodying who she is mind, body, and spirit. I feel like in today's world, you know, we come off as I don't know, I know for us, we come off as maybe aggressive, strong, and even though women we embody those characteristics, we still have a feminine side that needs to be soft, that needs to be nourished, that needs to be loved, right, and self love is where it's at. And so for me, feminine wellness is really just loving who you are and getting in tune with who you are mind, body. And spirit. Right. I love that. I love that answer. So, you know, you've worked with so many women across different ages and lifestyles. What are some common themes and challenges that show up when women begin their wellness journey. Oh my goodness, self esteem, how they feel about their body, how they feel about, you know, when they wake up in the morning, what their mood is like, if they can fit their clothes or not, the fact that they don't look like the next person. And I tell them all the time, you know, you have to accept you for who you are, and if it's something that you don't like, change it, you know. And so the first thing they have to do is be real with themselves, right, what is it? What are it that you want to change about yourself? It's your weight. Let's get on the diet plan. Let's see what it is that you need to cut back on. So when it comes to their health and their wellness, we start with the nutrition factor first because a lot of women, we like to look good, you know, and when they don't, when you don't look at yourself the same say you had a baby and you gained some weight, right, and you kind of lost yourself because you're so into it being a mom. And so now it's like, man, I didn't gained about thirty pounds. I don't like the way I look anymore. So I tell when all the time is kind of reflect on who you were before you had that child, you know, what was important to you then, so that you can get back to who you were first, before you were a mom. Yeah, you know I love that answer. So let me say this, let me be very open and honest with my listeners. Here, I'm watching a beautiful young woman that has I've watched a group from a baby. And just to hear you speak right now and just see your whole entire journey has been amazing. Hain't been amazing. My prayer for even before we got on here was that you allow God to use you in your confidence. Just shine because I want you to shine. You understand when I say, and you are. And that's why I'm sitting here in. My eyes I water in y'all my eyes. I am watching such a beautiful woman embrace all of her, breaking every bit of her and so even her being in a fitness wellness you know that that whole arena thing, and also being a mother. I saw her transition, her transformation from then to now, and it speaks values, and so I knew coming in that I truly wanted you to be here, to be able to speak and coming from a true authentic place. So when we talk about supporting women, yes, especially the physical health and nutrition and fitness, all of those are key. There's a lot of conflicting information about that. So can you break down some of the misconceptions about women in fitness, in the nutrition, and especially from your perspective as a competitive athlete? Okay, I think the I think the thing is about it is like these fad diets, right, you know, women want to uh get this this quick fix. There's no such thing as as a quick fix. It's it's not a it's not a quick fix. It's a journey, not a sprint. And so the first thing I feel like people need to do is just find out like your like your genetic blood background, like go get your blow work done, see what's really going on internally, and then go from there, because if you're allergic to something, I can't put you on a nutrition plan without me knowing like what you're allergic to, what your body respond to, and then just know what you know, what foods that you digest properly that doesn't cause you to blow Because as women, you know, we we carry a lot of waterway, we carry a lot of water w and so I try to get people to understand that certain things, certain methods are fine, like fasting. I believe in fasting. It's a great holistic thing. But if you have different things going on with your body, maybe you can only fast for six hours. So I just think it's all individual. It all depends on the person. But I try to get people to get away from those fad diets and really just get into what's best for them when it comes to your diet plan. And be realistic, you know, don't you know, don't do something that you know you can't do. Make it realistic. If you know that you love a certain snack at a certain time, don't eat it for the week. Maybe give it to yourself for the weekend one of the weekend days. So my first thing is like, be realistic with yourself, you know, don't jump into a diet that you know that you just cannot do. You know, be realistic. That would be my first thing, you know. Thank you for saying that. So let me tell you something where you see my journey. I'm bed and the thing is is that I didn't start holding on the way to after I was forty years old. So I just knew that I was gifted. The whole way around that I was yeah, all the way WoT and so those hips that I prayed for, those hips in that you know that, but it was there and it said, I ain't going nowhere. I ain't going nowhere. And so I remember after I had my last baby, and. I remember doing the forty and fifth Fabulous Me and my good girlfriend. We was doing. We was doing well, and. All of a sudden it was and I'm like, oh wait, what's this? What is this? And I remember being athletic. I knew okay, I know what I gotta do. But those same things that I was doing, basketball, you know stuff, all of that track stuff, all of it. Yes, it's not working out in my fifties. It's not working yes. And women like that there was athletic in their younger lives, in their teen thirties, and now they picked up some weighting there trying to lose it, but they still using those same exercises as before. What can you say for that? What advice would you have for those women out there? Okay, so Cardio, card Yo, get on that stair master and go to work. I love to waist train I would say, get a great waist trainer, wrap it around those love handles. I like to put on some cream. Now. The cream that I use is a. Natural thermogenic and it's actually a makeup remover. It's called albeleine. You know what albolene is. Listen, you get some of that albaline and it is a natural thermogenic. It makes you sweat. So you put that on those any area if you want to. If you got a little extracellul light on your arms, hey, put it on there. Put it everywhere. If you want to. Wrap it around on those love handles, honey, wrap it around. Get you some water and get on that stair mass from thirty minutes to an hour and your calories will start to burn off you all that lipid visceral fat which is inside it will start to burn. And that's the key A lot of people are. They don't understand that it's not just about dropping calories. It's all about that visceral fat that's actually underneath our skin that has to burn first. So your body. When we talk about metabolism, it's like if you think about a car and the engine and how it runs. That's why I tell people. Yeah, you can fast, but you still have to eat because your body is like a plant, so you still have to eat. But it's the right foods. You want to eat, foods with nutritional value. So the key is eating, but eating the foods that win nutritional value and then getting on that steermaster for at least thirty minutes to forty five minutes to an hour. Now, I like to do fasted cardio. Faster cardio is called fast cardio because you're on an empty stomach and you're going straight to the gym and you're getting that cardio done and you actually jump kick your metabolism faster that way. Oh wow, yes, oh wow, oh wow. So that's why we call a fastic cardio. Yep, oh wow. So what you know, type of vitamins that they that they should have, You know, for me, I use several different ones because I have vertigo now and so there's certain different I cannot work out the way that I used to before, and now I know that now, So even me learning how to eat things that I know that would not trigger my body. So I'm being very intentional ools that I put in my body, so it's no longer about my outside now it's all about my inside. Yeah, it's all about my inside. And so I heard that you talk about cardio. So I'm about to make a little joke right here. Even though I was ran tracked in high school in part of college, me and run it just don't get along, no, mom, Let me tell you why. Okay, I used to run. Like when I run, my body starts to itch all over to where I want to be. Excuse my language, but ass naked because my again is so like since the to it. So what I do is I do a nice little thirty minute walk. It's a part of my cardio. And then I go in and lip. That's for me. But what is. Thatsh What is that etching of the body when you get the running and like I mean. My whole body, it's it tingles, right girl? It tingles. It tingles. It does. It's not used to it you have to. It's actually something that you just have to get you to persevering through. And once your once you do that for about a month, that tingling goes away. Yes, that tingling goes away. Let me tell you something. If y'all would still had my face just dropped like listen, so let me share this story with you. Okay, I had my first baby. You know, then I was steal in shape, basketball everything. I literally played basketball throughout my whole first pregnancy. Okay, So after I had my baby, I'm like, okay, I'm getting ready to get back in shape. I go out and I'm running. Before I knew it, y'all, i started itching all over my legs and my flat. So I'm in the middle of the street on one hundred and fifty Night Street with my pants down. It's crazy, your body was just getting ready to sweat. Was so uncomfortable. It was so uncomfortable. Yeah. And this is in November, like right after I was released to be able to start working out, and it's you know, in Chicago, it's still it was cold. Oh it's so I figured, okay, that'd be fine. Girl. No, I was in the middle of one hundred and fifty ninth Street with my pants down, my leg on the side. Of the road. Yeah, you're you just you know, your pores, your body is trying to get into it. It's in shock. What is going on? Yeah? Yeah, So once you do that, because when you when I first started working out, it was the same thing. It was just an itching sensation all over. That's natural. That's our body responding to something that's not used to doing anymore. But once you start getting through that, in a month, it goes away so that we can do on that day. No all, I recommend, I tell people all the time, put on sweats. Just when you start back working out, put on sweats so your body can get used to sweating again. When your body isn't used to and your pores are opening up, you're gonna it. You're gonna feel like something's going on, but it's not. It's just an internal natural thing that happens within our our body systems. Yeah, and within after a month you're good. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you know. It was so funny. So let me let me let me share this with you. Probably it was about two years ago when I was deaf on my my fitness, just every day working out and working out. And I remember in the beginning starting back ye stogging some, then walking, jogging some, and then walking, and I remember having that sensation, and I remember I was in my mind, I was like, nope, we ain't it. I was able to do two mouths without itching. And I get in the car and I sit down did my body starting. I was like, yeah, I taught myself. I said, we're not gonna do that. We're gonna walk and we're just gonna live very heavy. And then I got my swimming pool and we just gonna go on a swimming pool. That's that's gonna be our cardy. But but I'm gonna tell you'all people, I'm being funny because that works for me. What works for you all is you are. And I think Tasha could even say, is that one one glove doesn't fit everybody. One doesn't fit everybody with your way and that's why you know, even having a one on one trainer or even a nutrition is to be able to have you. And I love that you started your your your company. Lady Road, let me talk about that. What's what is that? I mean, I know what it is, but for my listeners that don't know what is so, Lady Road Diamonds is Uh, Basically, it's gonna be where all everybody who's under me, I trained whoever wants to be under me. You are about to go through the fire. When you think about a diamond and what a diamond has to you have to go through the fire to become this beautiful diamond. So wherever you are in your transformation journey, I'm gonna create. I'm gonna create the best you that you've ever seen. Mind, body, and spirit. We're gonna I'm gonna. I'm gonna be you know, asking you questions about how you feel about yourself. I'm gonna be taking your weight. I'm gonna be doing everything to help guide you to be your best self physically, emotionally and spiritually beautiful. I love that. So let's talk about body imaging. Talk about body imaging. You know, for the most of us, body imaging has been everything, especially in our career. You know, that has been all my life. Is how outside and in confidence space, especially in the fitness spaces. How do you help women to navigate that? Okay, So I always tell people, do not compare yourself to the next woman. You know, everybody have a different physique, right, So love your physique and just find out what. Your weaknesses are and then work on that. Say you one, I don't know, and maybe nice shoulders on a nice back, focus on the exercises that's going to help you sculpe that. Because being a bodybuilder is like painting, you know, it's like, oh, I want to create this canvas, this beautiful canvas, and so you want to always take pictures. I tell people pictures tell the story. So start off with a beginning picture, and then every two weeks to a month, keep taking pictures until you see exactly what it is that you want to look like. Now, for me, I always try to envision what I want to look like first, Like even if it's say you will look a certain way in high school, take that high school picture. And put it somewhere. I don't care if it's the first thing. You wake up on your wall in the kitchen, on your refrigerator and look at that picture every day and say, you know what I'm coming for you. So I always tell people just try to always look into yourself and what you want to be, and then just go towards that goal. Beautiful. I love that. So we know, so let's talk about our mental Let's talk about our mind. So we know that the mind and the body are connected, right, But I love to hear you take on how mental wellness and physical wellness influences on one another. So couldn't you share a story, either from your own journey or one of your clients that show how improving mental health that's impacted their physical transformation or vice versa. Okay, So, so I did have a client who was suffering from depression, really really bad. She felt like the person she was with didn't love her anymore. So she started looking you know, within herself and trying to get back to the gym to see if that was something that she could better herself in as far as like getting over her depression. So I started talking to her about, you know, her spiritual walk first, like, you know, how is your relationship with God and stuff like that, and I'm just like, listen, you have to pick yourself up from that dark place because even though he might not be loving you the way that you feel like you should be loved, this is the time for you to love on yourself because at the end of the day, you. Can't allow someone to have that much power over you. And she just. Kept she kept questioning who she was, and I told her, stop blaming yourself, it's not you. But she was so hooked on him not loving her, you know. And then from personal experience for myself, I was actually looking for love in the wrong place. I wanted someone to love me the way that I feel like I should have been loved, And I think I put too much into that. And I think that when when I found this fitness journey, I was going through a really dark time. You know, our grandparents had died. Our cousin, one of my favorite cousins, your favorite cousin, cousin Earl, you know, he had passed. We was having a lot of death in our family. And I just didn't know what Guy was doing. And I just I didn't feel the same. I felt like, you know, how could we live without our matriarch? You know, how could we navigate this world without the person that held us together? How am I supposed to get through life without my grandmother? Like she held us together? And so in that I was like, I gotta get out of this funk. I have to do something about myself. And I thought about myself, Man, what is it that I really love to do? When I was you know, when I. Was younger, Man, I used to love going to the gym and working out. And that's when I found the gym again, and I was like, wow, like this is my happy place, this is my safe space, this is where I can. Be who I am. And I think that when you're in a dark place like that, that's what you have to do. You have to find your safe space and what makes who you know, what made you you in the first place, and then you have to say, you know what, you know, I will I will love myself even more because that person, like whatever whatever that person did, it's not gonna it's not gonna have that that power for me. So I think that the gym saved me. My circumstances pushed me towards that place, and it just made me a mental a mentally tough person. And it showed me that if I could dedicate myself to a man, dedicate myself to a relationship, I can dedicate myself to the gym. You know, I can be loyal to the gym. I can you know, I can push myself to another level. And so that was the challenge for me. And I think that once you get over that mentally, when you know that you can do and be, you can you can conquer anything. Yeah. Yeah, add this too. When you can dedicate yourself to yourself, yes that's it, yes, yes, yeah. When you start to find who you are amongst anything else, amongst family members, parents, friends, or whatever, and you. Find who you truly are. That is what the self love journey is all about. That is why this platform was created so you can truly find out who you are and embrace every bit of you learn who you are. The one thing is that I learned is that we all have some type of healing issue of entity that we need to happen. Whether it comes from you know, people being teasing you at school, racism, sexism, abuse or whatever, or even abandonment. You know. That comes in hand. You know you spoke of our grandmother. Yes, she is a this is my one of my beautiful like she probably was one of my first childs before I hear a child and her and her twin and I used to have them on my hit with me everywhere that I went, everywhere that I went. And so watching them grow up to be beautiful women, amazing women, has been. Just amazing. I've watched it all. And so when I saw you on this health journey and I saw you on this journey, I just had to be there front and center. What I could be. Yes, you know, coming to see you in just just city and watching you of Oh, because it took so much discipline to be able to do that. And as I share with you before we got on about we're doing the DVD principles, that is one of part of our core of this years of our rebirth, about having the decision, realization in the discipline in it. If you can, and I know I should have prepared you for it, if you can walk my listeners through your DVD principles for you deciding to become the woman that you are with your fitness journey, could you share that woman? And I hope that I put you on the spot with you. But if you understand what the DVD principles is when I told you it's about the decision, understanding, the visualization, and a discipline. Yes, So the first decision that you have to make is that you're going to change. You want to be a healthier you. It's time to change, right. And you start by saying, Okay, I know I used to when I get up in the morning, I eat cereal. You can't eat Syria anymore, baby, not if you're trying to be what I'm trying to be. So now you got to gotta eat some egg whites, not the most you know, I guess, tasteful thing. Okay, so you have to decide, Okay, is this really what I want to do? If I want to live a healthier lifestyle, then you have to make the decision to live a healthier lifestyle. Don't go into it halfway, don't have it go all the way, okay. And so when you talk about that, you have to have a nutrition plan and you have to have a fitness plan. Those two go hand in hand. So when you have a vision of where you're trying to go, I know, for me being a bodybuilder, I was like, where do I start? You know? So now we're talking about supplementation. What are the vitamins that I need to take? What are the supplements I need to take? Like, okay, so I gotta get on protein. I gotta get on creatine monel hydrate, and I need some brand chain and meinal acids, which are the building blocks of protein. So now I have to build my muscle that I need in order to compete with these other girls. On that level. Now I have to get a trainer. So now I'm visualizing all these things that I need I need to get in order to get to that stage. So it's all it's all a process. So you have to trust, trust the process. So the dedication part is really all about like mapping everything out, you know, really making those realistic goals for yourself. And going for them. When we talk about nutrition, you start with the regular thing that you do. You know, you do your breakfast right. I'm gonna giving you the blueprint right now, So you do, you do your breakfast. So after you do your breakfast right, you have a snack in between, then you have lunch right, and then you have another snack, and then you have your dinner. Now that's what five meals. If you're a person that don't eat like that, that can be a lot. That can be a lot, okay. And then on top of that, you have to drink at least half to a hole gallon of water a day. And so I tell people, when you think about wanting to become a bodybuilder, you have to really know the science behind all of that. So once you. Decide to do that, now you have to envision who you want to be in that. So now we're talking about you can't kick it no more. You can't go to every party no more, okay, because now you have to go to the gym at least three to five days a week. We only got seven days in a week, so there's going to be things that you miss. Then you have the meal prep. So now when you get invited to those Thanksgiving you have to carry your meals because you cannot partake in what everybody else is eating. So that's another thing. When you choose to live this healthy lifestyle, there's a discipline that comes with that. There is a mentality that comes with that, there is a spiritual aspect that come with that, and it's definitely a challenge. Like when I first started, Oh my good, I can remember it, like yesterday I went over to my grandmother's house with all this all this food for Christmas and I have my meals and I was like, I was looking around and I was. Like, what have I done. I can't have no sweep potato path, I can't have no chocolate. Okay, I can't have nothing. So even though you might feel like you're missing out, all I kept telling myself it's a mental thing. I kept telling myself, you know what, it's gonna be there. Yeah, it's gonna be there. And so I say all that to say that if you want it, you're gonna do it. How bad do you really want it? Yeah? How bad do you really want it? Yes? Yeah? First of all, thank you for sharing that that. I think that was cute. So I just want to get a little bit, just a little bit deep, because you are a mother and being this discipline, even on yourself, how do you regulate on being a mother a wife? How do you balance it all? Let me put it that way. How do you balance it all? Yeah? So I balance it all by just remembering that as a mother, someone's looking looking at you and you are that example for that child, and you still have to put them first. So it's like, Okay, my child eats this, I have to eat this right, And so you have to shop for your family and separate your meals from your family, especially if they're. Not on the same you know, regimen as you. And so in doing that, you never know maybe your child is influenced by that and they want to eat the way that you eat. But the way that I balance it is like, Okay, you want donald today, that's fine, you just do something different. And so you just have to regulate your responsibility from being a mom and dedication to the gym, and you just have to make those adjustments. I was blessed enough to have a gym that had a kiddie club. Where I can bring my child with me. And so even in that, you know, packing her snacks and making sure she has extra clothes, all that was pre planned. So it's like, you know, have a plan and then you can balance it and make it adjust your schedule as so it was challenging, but you can get through it. You really can. Thank you. That's beautiful. Thank you. And I see when y'all work it out. I work it out. I set what I do to I love giving our listeners things that can. Put into practice right now. What are some small sustainable changes that someone can make today to step into the feminine wellness journey? And even our men. I don't want to live need my men out there even as. Well at us. The first thing that I will say to do is pay attention to what you're putting inside your body. Cut back on those sugars and process foods. And I will also say, just mentally, say some affirmations. You know, love on yourself, know who you are. Pray in the morning when you first get up, you know, say I am beautiful, I am bold, I am courageous, I am a king, I am a queen, you know, and and step into that power. Drink your water, okay, drink your water. And if you are a pop person or even a caffeine person, you know, sparkling water does it for me. I used to drink pepsi all the time and the sparkling water because I needed that fizz. It does it for me. Uh. And then I will. Also say, you know, pick up on your multi vitamin. Find out what it is that you really need. Takeogen. It tightens up our skin. Also, eat eat more foods that are high in nutritional value, but especially your melons, like your grapes and your strawberries and your melon, your watermelon. Try to stay away from like the high fruitoase type of type of fruits like apples. I don't know people that don't know that they really high in sugar, and so you want to kind of cut back on those and just replace it with something else. Make smoothies. If you don't like to eat a lot, protein shakes are great for meal replacements, and just try to balance your meals. Try not to eat a lot, you know, eating portions, small portions, and eat more than three. Times a day. That is such a cliche to just eat three times a day, you know, eat five meals a day, five small meals a day. And and I'm telling you cut back on those sh bake your food instead of fry it, you know, and things like that. And exercise, and I mean move your body. It doesn't have to be a lot twenty to thirty minutes of active moving around, whether that's playing with your grandchildren, going to the park, walking, skating, riding your bike, walking the treadmill, do something, yoga, mindfulness, anything, Go to the self, Go sit in a signer for thirty minutes, you know, and love yourself, Love what you're doing, Love what you're doing. You know. So that would that would be my small suggestion for people to. Start off with. But beautiful, thank you for that advice. Thank you, you know, you know listeners.
